Earth Day 2026

On April 22, 2014 (Earth Day) this farm found us. Immediately I knew stewarding this land would change everything.

Tending to these hills became an act of care, a relationship with the earth, an invitation to slow down, observe and patiently listen. Season by season, I learned that growing gardens is never only about the plants. The land teaches humility, resilience, a trust in natural cycles, and as I learned to grow food, I grew.

Through caring for soil, witnessing the growth, decay, rest and renewal. I came to understand that nourishment reaches far beyond what we eat. It lives in connection; to nature, to community, to purpose, and to one another.

Hammock Earth was born from the notion that wellness, belonging, and regeneration begin in relationship with the land and with one another.

This Earth Day, we invite you to celebrate with us and honour the joy and possibility that are available to us when we reconnect with nature.

When I met Thu, I recognized a shared devotion through a different path: healing, embodiment, and creating spaces where people can come home to themselves. It became clear that our work belonged together.

What emerged is Hammock Earth, a place and a vision where food, care, skills, and joyful community are woven back onto the land for people and planet to thrive together.

Launching Hammock Earth on Earth Day feels both symbolic and deeply personal. It is a return to where this journey quietly began, and an opening to what comes next.

My path to Hammock Earth began with my body in 2009 when it rebelled against an imbalanced life in Silicon Valley.

Living with diabetes, and later cancer, led me into a deeper journey of healing through western and eastern medicine, food, movement, mindfulness, coaching, and nervous system work.

Over time, I began to understand what my body was trying to tell me it needed to thrive: good food, movement, healthy relationships, nourishing physical environments and a sense of safety, belonging and creativity.

Moving to Nusqool was a big shift in 2020 from city life to rural living more closely with the seasons. I knew I wanted this work to move from online into something on the land, but I didn’t yet know how.

Then I met Anahita last fall.

Someone who lives in deep relationship with food, soil, and regeneration — and who helps others reconnect with our food systems and the land in meaningful and practical ways.

We met online in Janaki's homesteading pod and then in person last September. It quickly became shared meals, long conversations, and a retreat we co-created for Entrepreneurs within weeks of meeting IRL. There was an ease to it. A sense that something larger was unfolding through us.

That unfolding has become Hammock Earth. Nusqool’s programs now continue as Hammock Earth School, as part of a larger vision where land, food, care, and community come back into relationship for our collective and the Earth to thrive.

As I write this, our fifth Embodiment Circle is coming to a close with a day retreat this weekend, an ending that feels like a beginning. And Artemis II recently captured what a Hammock Earth looks like.

When we chose the name Hammock Earth, we also serendipitously discovered its short form: Hearth, with both the words heart and earth.
